Look years younger with facial surgery
Dr. Douglas Rothkopf and the team at the UMass Memorial Cosmetic Surgery Center, in Worcester, MA, offer you the latest in safe, high-quality facial plastic surgery techniques with results you’ll be thrilled about.
Dr. Rothkopf, what types of facial surgery do the plastic surgeons perform at the Cosmetic Surgery Center?
We perform blepharoplasty, which is cosmetic eyelid surgery, facelifts, neck lifts, rhinoplasty (nose reshaping) and otoplasty (ear reshaping).
What is the average age of facial surgery patients you see?
Generally, our patients are in their 40s and 50s, however, we do see patients as young as 30. These are men and women who hope to improve their appearance and look more refreshed.
Why should I consider facial surgery?
Facial surgeries really turn the clock back. You’ll appear refreshed and more youthful. But it’s important to note that your results are uniquely your own and depend on your skin type, the sun exposure you’ve received over the years, as well as any history of smoking.
Will I experience any pain or other side effects?
You’ll have some swelling in the first weeks after facial cosmetic surgery, as well as some bruising. This fades by the third week and make-up helps to hide that effect. Still, you may consider staying out of work anywhere from one to three weeks until the bruising goes away.
As a rule, there really isn’t a lot of pain during recovery from facial surgery. And, we offer a long-lasting anesthetic that helps to keep pain level low.
Is all facial surgery done on an outpatient basis?
Yes, all our facial surgeries are performed at our center on the UMass Memorial Medical Center – Hahnemann Campus on Lincoln Street in Worcester, MA.
Safety is our first priority. When you have your facial surgery done in our state-of-the-art medical facility, you’re assured of the highest level of safety.
Do you ever combine nonsurgical procedures, such as fillers, with facial surgery?
When you come to our center for the initial consultation, we’ll discuss that possibility. For example, often we can pair procedures such as Botox® injections or fillers to help enhance the results of your facial plastic surgery.
How long will my facial surgery results last?
A face lift generally lasts between seven to 10 years, while blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) lasts longer than 10 years. Rhinoplasty (nose job) and otoplasty last a lifetime.
